As you have most likely heard, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health has recommended the immediate suspension of all large events and public gatherings of over 250 people due to COVID-19.

The Elder and Staff Teams have been reading about, praying about and working out a response to the COVID-19 concern. Having considered carefully all the options:

  1. We have decided NOT to meet together this Sunday (March 15) for our usual public gathering, but to gather in our homes/online instead. We will assess this on a week to week basis.
  2. We have decided to cancel our weekly church ministries and community/rental groups and events for the next 3 weeks, in line with Public Health’s move to close the schools for 3 weeks.
  3. We recommend that the March Break Coffee Mixer for Sunday March 15 be cancelled as well. But because these are smaller groups, this can be left up to the discretion of the hosts and the guests, if they are comfortable with it.

We are not cancelling church! We are changing the way that we will be gathering. We are encouraging you to meet with your families and/or friends in each other’s homes. We will live stream our worship and the message via Facebook or here on the Church’s web page. The web page access is open to all, and can be located here:

There may be some among us who are alone, or who do not have access to, or familiarity with a computer. Please consider meeting with them in their home, bringing your laptop or tablet. If you gather in small groups, please continue to exercise caution and good hygiene practices.

We are not acting out of fear, nor under pressure by our government. We are acting out of concern for those who are at greater risk of contracting this virus. As Jesus followers our heart especially goes out to those most vulnerable. We are also witnessing to our community and government that we are partners with them in our concern for their health and well-being.

Please be in prayer for those affected by this, as well as those on the front lines dealing with the virus and patients, and those providing leadership and having to make hard decisions.

Thank you,

The Elders and the Staff
